Section 1
Section 2
Our idea of contrary and opposition is shown clearly in the two stairs.
The first stair was based on the organic shape of leaves as well as shells. The thickness of stair was sunk in order to help people step into it. This gives a sense of protection, security as well as an experiene of natural forms in structure inspired from Art Nouveau.
The second stair was based on our construction of 'Tip-toe Stairs' from Waihekei Island. We made the height and thickness of each step to an extreme in order to challenge the people walking on it. This bings out the ideas of difficulty and danger so that people will take extra care when walking on.
